Please support me!
I’m taking on the Mega Miles Challenge in support of the Charity for Civil Servants. Make a donation to my page and let’s go one step closer to making sure no civil servant faces life’s challenges alone.
Every penny we raise helps to ensure our free, confidential support is there for colleagues when life gets tricky, from money worries and financial help to wellbeing and mental health support.
For colleagues like Hannah, that support can be life-changing: “I couldn’t even put into words how terrible it was. I was really unwell by this point and stress just took me out. I ended up taking time off work from anxiety. It’s about having someone to listen to you and tell you you’re going to be alright”.
Your donations will go further thanks to Baringa
A big thank you to our Supporting Partner Baringa who will match your fundraising pound for pound up to £5,000 - helping your fundraising go further!
“Civil servants play a vital role in delivering essential services and driving long‑term change, often under intense pressure. At Baringa, we are proud to work alongside government and public sector organisations to help them meet these challenges. Partnering with the Charity for Civil Servants on the Mega Miles Challenge is an exciting step forward, allowing us to deepen our support and help make a meaningful difference for civil servants across the UK.”

My Updates
Feeling hot, hot, hot?
Helo bawb! Squeezed in an early 5.4m walk with Nala in Mumbles in Swansea today before the temperature got too high. The week ahead shows it’s not always raining here but I realised today that rain may be preferable for miles targets, as this is going to be a hot week ahead! Just passed 100 miles with around 10 days to go - and my notional target remains 140 miles of walks for the month, to recognise 140 years of this important charity. I’m pleased to report I’m ahead of that personal commitment, helped by keeping the miles up this week and shared walks with Nala. Walks have included a lovely walk with Nala, my brother and my parents’ golden retriever in Margam Park yesterday and a shared staff charity walk (for both mega miles and our annual charity chosen Wales Air Ambulance) from our offices in Cardiff last Wednesday. Lovely to so do with our Charity for Civil Servants colleagues, who travelled to join us, so I now have my official t-shirt! I’m pleased to report my office team and I together are making good progress on our equivalent to the Wales coastal path walk (870 miles) - and also making progress on our fundraising. I’m hoping this keeps going up as we finish the month and our shared miles. We are grateful for all donations to date and any more, however small, will be gratefully received to make a difference and provide a contribution from Wales. Keep walking! Cofion. Andrew
Unlucky for some?
Well it’s day 13 of the challenge - have been able to keep up with the daily pace thanks to Nalas acceptance of rainy walks in June morning and evenings and then further on the weekends. Day 13 not unlucky at all for weather - sunshine, blue sky and cool breeze and allowed me a hard but beautiful 21 mile walk down the Wales coastal path from Ogmore early start to Barry - the train station as after 21 miles wasn’t going to walk to Bridgend - some beautiful coastal photos and beaches on the way. Never done that walk before - my furthest before a little beyond Southerndown. Took a souvenir photo of the Barry Island sign as I passed to my final destination Barry train station … What’s occurring Mega Milers! Really loved doing that today - without Nala today as too long a walk for her, but back out with her tomorrow to keep the miles going for the rest of the month. It’s great to see the miles adding up and donations coming in for us all - we really appreciate the donations - thanks to all of you who have done so to help us make a difference for colleagues in difficulty. Look forward to the shared Wednesday walk from Cathays Park and our other offices sharing our miles for the Mega Miles challenge with our staff charity Wales Air Ambulance. I look forward to resting my legs tonight first! Cofion. Andrew
5 days in …
Well it’s important to establish the daily routine so other than a day in Manchester, I’ve been for an early 6.15 walk with Nala to make sure we start the day with miles - I’m a little behind the daily miles which is harder than you expect - but will use the weekend to catch up, with Nala, parents’ dog and some me time… important to find the time to do the extra miles on top of the day job for an important task! Glad to see the rest of the team getting started too this week. I’m ahead of the daily target today and as a result a very tired dog sleeping all evening - I’d share the photo if I could upload it… 25 days to go. Would appreciate any donations however small thank you. AndrewThank you to my Sponsors
