Goal 575mi

Almost there!

Today will be the penultimate blog post before the end of the Mega Miles Campaign Challenge, as it stands we're a collective 420 miles at the time of writing towards our goal of 500

'A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step' albeit one that even the actual Proclaimers might have reservations at undertaking!

This campaign is to support the Charity for Civil Servants and in turn our colleagues during May the mental health month, we hope that our endeavours have encouraged others  to be the best they can be, and gain mindfulness with our fellow front line friends

On a lighter note, our very own Libby Thomas went for a walk with friends around Erskine. With notable highlights in guessing the age of the trees that they walked past using their highly 'accurate' hug method, during their trip they saw an amazing bunch of bluebells near the Erskine bridge.

Enjoy the sun folks, and the long weekend when it arrives

Midway

Good day dear readers, we hope you all got to enjoy the brief yet blistering heatwave and managed to avoid the torrential downpour that affected most of Scotland on Sunday!

We are pleased to announce– in the immortal words of Jon Bon Jovi- “ohhh we’re halfway there” at a combined total of 275 miles walked (no “Livin’ on a prayer” for us!), this puts us well on track for the goal of 500 miles over the month of May

The combined distance covered is approximately a round trip to Aberdeen or if you prefer a more scenic trip; the full West Highland way undertaken 3 times

To wrap up, here is a glorious poem from the ever talented Paul Johnson;

Up and About by Paul Johnson

Although not as dreich as it ever has been

It’s dreicher than earlier on in the evening

Earlier on, the drizzle was nil

The blue of the sky sizzled sanguine and still

And though smir will tickle your face

The choice is not sticking inside of a place

not propping up clothes in a slouch or a slump

A doom-scrolling languishing biscuit dump

Instead breathe the fresh air, breathe in the damp

Seize opportunity while you still can

Though summer in Scotland requires some poise

Instead seek the quiet or bring your own noise

Explore in the air. In the dark , in the rain

Explore contemplation of how to keep sane

Explore how a village became a town

About is it’s own thing and up is not down

Please support us!

We're taking on the Mega Miles Challenge in support of the Charity for Civil Servants.

The Charity for Civil Servants supports current, former and retired civil servants when they face tough times.  From mental health struggles and financial assistance to relationship issues, getting through grief, and coping with disability, they’re here to help people stay strong, whatever life brings.

They’ve been there for civil servants for over 137 years, providing an umbrella of support when it’s needed most and so we're fundraising to make sure they can be there for future generations too.
