Last Day of May - To My Mega Miles Marvels

Thank you for being the warp drive behind my journey! Whether I was sprinting like a Teen Wolf under a full moon, marching in my army outfit like a space-time soldier, or striding through the stars in my astronaut suit, you were the force that kept me going.

Like Tom Baker’s Doctor Who offering jelly babies to Daleks, your support was sweet, unexpected, and totally legendary. I may not have brought my sonic screwdriver (it was for a different Doctor Who), but I do have the best companions in the galaxy—you.

From leaping like a Leprechaun chasing gold at the end of a rainbow, to channelling my inner Bishop , and even donning the Mandalorian armour—because yes, this is the way—you’ve been with me through every wild, wonderful mile.

So here’s to you, my time-traveling, moon-howling, jelly-baby-loving, galaxy-saving crew. You made this adventure unforgettable.

Thank-you and Allons-y!

🎩 Mega Miles Challenge Update: Just Like That… Mr Benn Set Off Again!

Once upon a time, not so very long ago, in a street rather like yours or mine, a woman set out on a journey. Not just any journey, mind you—but a Mega Miles Challenge. And that woman… was me.

Inspired by the magical adventures of my childhood hero, Mr Benn, I’ve added a twist to my miles: a dressing-up challenge! You see, as a child, I was enchanted by Mr Benn’s mysterious visits to the fancy-dress shop, where he’d try on a costume and—just like that—step into a new world. I always thought he must be a civil servant when he wasn’t adventuring, thanks to that ever-so-stereotypical bowler hat. It made perfect sense to my younger self.

So, in honour of Mr Benn, I’ve donned my own bowler hat and set off on my own adventures—mile after mile, costume after costume. And I’m thrilled to share that I’ve now exceeded my mileage target! Every step has been a story, every outfit a new chapter, and every mile a reminder that we’re capable of more than we imagine.

In fact, just the other day, I was out again—this time in a bright yellow and white striped dress, knee-high socks, and orange Converse, parasol in hand and with Echo by my side. It was another joyful nod to the spirit of dressing up and turning the ordinary into something extraordinary.

In the photo accompanying this post, you’ll spot me in full Mr Benn mode, complete with a sign bearing his name. Behind us, the everyday world carries on—cars parked, houses lined up—but for us, it’s another chapter in a storybook journey.

Thank you for following along. There are a few more days and miles left in May, and perhaps more outfits to come. Until next time… just like that, off I go again.

Warm wishes and happy adventures,

Margaret-Mary

Baa-rilliant News from the Mega Miles Trail! 🐑

Baa! Hello again, my lovely flock of supporters!

It’s your favourite fluffy fundraiser here — and I’ve got some udderly exciting news to share: I’ve now walked a whopping 113 miles! That’s right — 113 miles of hoofing it for a great cause, and I’m still going strong!

In the photo you should spot me in full fleece mode, proudly posing with my trusty four-legged companion. We’ve been trotting through blooming streets, sniffing the flowers (well, mostly the dog), and soaking up the support from baa-rilliant folks like you.

Thank ewe all so much for cheering me on. Every mile brings us closer to our goal, and your donations make every step worthwhile. If you haven’t chipped in yet, there’s still time to join the herd!

Until next time — keep those tails wagging and those hooves moving!

With woolly thanks,
Margaret-Mary the Mega Miles Sheep 🐑💪

¡Ándale! ¡Ándale! ¡Arriba! ¡Arriba!

Hola amigos, it's Speedy Gonzales here to tell you about Margaret-Mary's Mega Miles Challenge. Inspired by a childhood love of cartoons and the fastest mouse in all Mexico, Margaret-Mary is taking on a walking journey to raise funds for a great cause.

I am standing proudly with my loyal canine companion on a sunny day, but Echo looks less than impressed. I am embracing the challenge and channelling the fun and energetic vibe of Speedy Gonzales himself. It is not just about covering miles; it's about making every step count towards helping others. So please cheer me on  ¡Viva Margaret-Mary y su Mega Miles Challenge!

¡Ándale amigos! Let's get moving for a great cause!

🌵 Margaret-Mary’s Mega Mile Challenge: A Rootin’-Tootin’ Trek for a Mighty Fine Cause 🤠

Well howdy, partners!

Out here on the dusty trails of good deeds and big hearts, one brave soul has saddled up for a journey like no other. That’s right—Margaret-Mary’s takin’ on the Mega Mile Challenge for the Charity for Civil Servants, and she’s doin’ it in true Wild West style!

With her cowboy hat sittin’ proud, a red bandana catchin’ the breeze, and her trusty hound by her side, she’s marchin’ mile after mile to raise support for the folks who keep our civil service runnin’ smoother than a prairie breeze. From the cobbled streets of town to the flower-lined paths of the countryside, every step she takes is a step toward kindness, community, and care.

This ain’t just a walk—it’s a mission. A mission to tip our hats to the unsung heroes behind the scenes. So whether you’re wearin’ boots or sneakers, got a dog or a donkey, why not join the posse? Let’s ride (or walk) together and make a difference, one mile at a time.

Y’all ready? Let’s giddy up for good! Yee haw! 🐾

🦜 Day 2 Log of Margaret-Mary’s Mega Miles: The Pirate’s Plunder Walk 🏴‍☠️

Ahoy, ye generous scallywags!

On the second tide o’ Margaret-Mary’s Mega Miles voyage, a most wondrous thing did occur—aye, the treasure chest of donations overflowed by a gleamin’ £25 above the mark! And what be the reward for such fine generosity? Why, a pirate walk, o’ course!

So there she was, our brave Margaret-Mary, struttin’ the streets like the fiercest buccaneer this side o’ the Solent. With a tricorn hat perched proudly atop her noggin and camo trousers ready for jungle or Jolly Roger, she marched with her trusty hound—first mate and squirrel scout extraordinaire—by her side.

The townsfolk gawked and giggled, some nearly spillin’ their grog (or coffee, as landlubbers call it), as she waved her imaginary cutlass and shouted, “Avast! Walkin’ the plank be nothin’ compared to walkin’ for a cause!”

So hoist the sails and keep the doubloons comin’, mates! Who knows what other daft dares await if the coffers keep fillin’? A mermaid jog? A ninja sprint? Only the tides (and your donations) will tell!

Fair winds and funny walks, Cap’n Margaret-Mary & Crew 🐾

Mega Miles May starts with the hottest days of the year (so far)

Morning walk of a bit over 2 miles was at a much slower pace than usual due to the heat. Echo (my dog) has no sun or heat sense and would have run her self into heat stroke if I had let her. I took lots of water for her on the walk and I am having a cup of tea back at home now.
Humbled to have already achieved my sponsorship goal and then also hit a £25 increment beyond it, so tomorrow will see me sporting some kind of silly headwear or outfit.  Forecast is for cooler weather, which is a good thing for silly hat options etc.

Thanks for reading and sponsoring.

Please support me!

I’m taking on the Mega Miles Challenge during May 2025 in support of the Charity for Civil Servants. For most of my steps I expect to be accompanied by my rescue dog Echo.

To make things a bit more fun, I've decided to add a little twist to my walking. For every £25 increment over my donation target I receive, I'll be wearing a funny hat or costume piece during one of my daily walks. So, if you want to see me strutting around in a silly outfit, this is your chance.

The Charity for Civil Servants supports current, former and retired civil servants when they face tough times. From mental health struggles and financial assistance to relationship issues, getting through grief, and coping with disability, they’re here to help people stay strong, whatever life brings.

Here’s an idea of how your donation could help;

£5 could provide online support for carers feeling isolated
£10 could provide someone with support booklets on sleep, anxiety and looking after their mental health
£15 could help a family keep the heating on for the week, and cope with rising energy costs
£25 could provide an elderly couple access to vital legal advice as plan for the future

Your donation will help civil servants overcome life’s challenges and thrive - thank you.

They’ve been there for civil servants for nearly 140 years, providing an umbrella of support when it’s needed most and so I'm fundraising to make sure they can be there for future generations too.
