Total Pledged Goal: 100 MILES
It's been worth the effort
I set out Day 1 with a target set and fully focussed to hit both my miles target and sponsorship amount. Thanks to those that sponsored me for this worthy cause. I am ecstatic that I have actually hit the mile pledged with a few days to spare.
Beautiful Countryside Walk
Despite living in a town within a 10 minute stroll I can be on the great Leigh branch of the Leeds to Liverpool canal. Took a lovely stroll from Leigh to Wigan Pier for the 1st time ever. A great scenic walk with picturesque countryside and wildlife along the way. So peaceful and tranquil and took just over 3 hours to do the 8 mile distance and the weather was perfectDay 13

A week of walking never did any harm
7 days in and whilst I love walking it's been a case over past couple of days of managing that dodgy left knee.Pulled back a bit on the distance but will start stepping it up again over the next few days. I won't be beaten
Big Bank Holiday Weekend

Took off in the car for the 1 hour drive to the Fylde coast and parked up in Bispham and dropped down on to the lower promenade walk and all the way down to the Pleasure Beach at the south shore. Did the reverse journey as well and smashed a solid 9 miles out as well.
Did a respectable walk on both Saturday & Sunday as well to keep that energy going. Undercooked myself by 2 mins on Saturday though and missed by 3 miles by a fraction lol. Nailed it again on Sunday though with a tad extra
Day 1 of the Mega Miles Challenge

The weather is a big motivator and starting the day off with a 3 mile walk around the local park with just a couple of dog walkers and squirrels for company is great.
The peace and quiet is great for the mind and being in the great outdoors is perfect for the MH as well.
Starting the day with a good walk just seems to put you in a good place before the working day.
Bring on the month and like dogs are not just for Christmas - walking is not just for May
Every step counts
I took a decision at the beginning of 2025 to get myself in shape and improve my overall fitness and health. In the first quarter of 2025 I have lost nearly 2 stone and have joined my local gym. In addition because I love walking I have committed to doing 10000 steps as a daily target.
Please support me!
I’m taking on the Mega Miles Challenge in support of the Charity for Civil Servants.
The Charity for Civil Servants supports current, former and retired civil servants when they face tough times. From mental health struggles and financial assistance to relationship issues, getting through grief, and coping with disability, they’re here to help people stay strong, whatever life brings.
"When we didn't know who to turn to, the Charity was our life raft. We grabbed onto it when we felt like we didn't have anything to hold onto. It gave us answers to a question when we didn't have the answer ourselves... and it was so important to have that support at the time."
Graham
They’ve been there for civil servants for nearly 140 years, providing an umbrella of support when it’s needed most and so I'm fundraising to make sure they can be there for future generations too.
