Get ready to rock your festive jumpers
Let’s get together and do something special this Christmas. Rock your most dazzling, wacky, and downright tacky festive jumpers to raise money for fellow colleagues who need us now.
How it works
With so many people having a really tough time, getting involved matters more than ever. Taking part is easy, just follow these 3 simple steps:
❄️ Gather your colleagues and pick a date that suits you (you are Lead Elf after all!)
❄️ Sign up to create your festive fundraising page
❄️ Wear your festive jumpers, donate to your page and have fun!
We're better together: pass it on
Wall of Fame
We're so lucky to have wonderful supporters up and down the country, going above and beyond to raise money, so that we can continue to support civil servants, past and present, when life gets tough. Take a look at some of our amazing festive fundraisers...
Win
We’re running a competition to find the best fundraising page names. Sign up by 1 December with an incredible fundraising name. The top ten names (as chosen by the Charity for Civil Servants) will be put to a vote on our Facebook page – with the three highest-scoring groups each winning a box of choccies (and bragging rights!). So, put your thinking caps on and get creative with your fundraising page names!
Earn virtual badges along the way
The badges on your fundraising page will light up as you progress with your fundraising. You'll collect them for uploading a picture, sharing your page as well as hitting your fundraising target. Can you collect them all?
Read more about the badges you can collect.
Keeping it green
We can all do our bit to help the planet. So don’t buy a new jumper when you can buy a second hand one, run a swap shop or upcycle an old one!
Frequently asked questions
What is Festive Jumper Day?
Every year, Festive Jumper Day gives you the chance to get together with colleagues and have some fun, whether you’re in the office or working remotely.
Festive Jumper Day is your chance to rock your most dazzling, wacky, and downright tacky festive jumpers to raise money and help fellow civil servants when life gets tough.
Taking part is easy, just follow these three simple steps:
❄️ Gather your colleagues and pick a date that suits you
❄️ Sign up to create your festive fundraising page
❄️ Wear your festive jumpers, donate to your page and have fun!
Is there an official day for Festive Jumper Day?
There’s no set day – you can hold your Festive Jumper Day on any day that works for you and your Festive Knitwear Crew!
I don't have a festive jumper – can I still take part?
Absolutely! Why not get creative and upcycle an old jumper with sequins, baubles and pom poms?
There's no such thing as too many decorations when it comes to festive jumpers!
However you get your jumper, whether you’ve borrowed, bought or made it – Festive Jumper Day is about having some fun and doing something amazing to support the Civil Service community.
And remember, we’re keen to keep it green so are encouraging everyone to recycle and reuse jumpers wherever possible and do our bit to protect our planet.
How do we sign up?
Just click on the sign-up button and follow the simple steps to register your Festive Knitwear Crew.
Only one person in your group needs to sign up – your fundraising page will be created automatically, and everyone can then donate to this page. All money raised on the fundraising page will come directly to the Charity – how easy is that!?
We’re also running a competition to find the best fundraising page names. The top ten names will be put to a vote on social media – with the three highest-scoring groups each winning a box of choccies. Simply sign up by 1 December to be in with a chance to win!
Once you've signed up, don’t forget to personalise your fundraising page with photos and a profile for you and your Festive Knitwear Crew.
Can I join in on my own?
Of course, everyone is welcome and you can take part on your own or as a group!
Joining a meeting in your festive jumper is a great talking point – giving you the chance to explain why you’re wearing your festive finery and make an ever-so-subtle request for donations.
How many people can I have in my Festive Knitwear Crew?
As many as you want! It could be your teammates, the whole department, or the entire building – the more the merrier! You only need to register once to get a group fundraising page.
You could encourage a little (friendly!) competition between groups to see who can reach their fundraising goals first and raise the most money for colleagues in need.
What if I have a question about my fundraising page?
If you have a question about any aspect of your online fundraising page, please email us at fundraise@cfcs.org.uk or phone 0800 056 2424.
How does the fundraising work?
When you sign up, your group fundraising page will be created automatically. It’s easy to share the link to your page with colleagues so they can donate.
Most people choose to donate £3 but please give what you can. Everything you raise will make a difference to your Civil Service colleagues going through tough times.
You’re also welcome to organise other fundraising activities on Festive Jumper Day. We’ve seen festive quizzes, craftathons, bring-and-buy sales, cake sales – the lot!
We can support you with this so please do get in touch by emailing fundraise@cfcs.org.uk.
How can I unlock the digital badges on my fundraising page?
You can earn badges on your groups fundraising page for various fundraising milestones. There are six to collect in total and they will light up once you’ve reached them. View your badges on your Fundraising page.
You can earn badges for:
- Uploading a profile picture
- Sharing your fundraising page

See how many badges you can collect! Can you get them all?
Where does the money we raise go?
The proceeds will be donated to the Charity for Civil Servants. The Charity provides a lifeline for people in our community who are dealing with illness, bereavement, financial hardship and more – people like Marilyn, who said:
“The Charity for Civil Servants made me realise there’s more to life, and that I’ve got good people around me. That’s why I signpost my colleagues to the Charity and donate monthly. They’re such a worthwhile cause and a benefit to every single civil servant.”
By taking part in Festive Jumper Day, you’ll be supporting colleagues and friends across the Civil Service.
