1000 Completed!
Big thanks to everyone who donated, and for the words of encouragement.
I actually finished folding on Wednesday (26th) but I didn't string them all up together until Thursday (27th). As you can see from the photo, things got a little bit messy.
Doing any repetitive task, even quite a fun one like this, for circa 3 hours every day across a month is not as simple as it sounds. But it obviously was a tiny challenge compared to the help and support the Charity for Civil Servants provides many, so thank you all again for your contributions.
Paper and chains
I don't normally use paper this small, so things will be a little trickier and less comfortable, but any bigger and the collective display size for 1000 might have become problematic!
I intend to string them vertically in chains of 40 cranes, so 25 chains in total. Again, doesn't sound like a lot but I'll need to finish a chain almost every day.
Please support my fundraising
I’m fundraising in support of the Charity for Civil Servants by aiming to fold 1000 origami cranes (or Senbazuru in Japanese) within the month of February 2025. Normally such a challenge is attempted by an individual over the course of a year rather than 28 days. I've also probably only made a few dozen origami cranes ever, so it's not like I can make them in my sleep!
The Charity for Civil Servants supports current, former and retired civil servants when they face tough times. They’ve been there for civil servants for over 137 years, providing an umbrella of support when it's needed most and so I'm fundraising to make sure they can be there for future generations too.
