Please support me!

I’m taking on the Mega Miles Challenge in support of the Charity for Civil Servants.

The Charity for Civil Servants supports current, former and retired civil servants when they face tough times.  From mental health struggles and financial assistance to relationship issues, getting through grief, and coping with disability, they’re here to help people stay strong, whatever life brings.

They’ve been there for civil servants for over 137 years, providing an umbrella of support when it’s needed most and so I'm fundraising to make sure they can be there for future generations too.

My Updates

Day 28

Tuesday 28th May
Done!
70 miles in the bag.

Day 23

Thursday 23rd May
Surgery was more complicated than anticipated and so I spent more time in hospital than planned and was on some pretty strong medication. But I got home yesterday, and the recovery has started to progress well. Encouraged to move around and walk short distances, so not worried about hitting my goal of 70 miles (which is good!). Only 4 to go!
The main challenge is stopping the dogs from trampling my poor abdomen!

Day 15

Wednesday 15th May
Arrived in Lithuania today, got my surgery tomorrow. I’m currently 10 miles off my goal of 70 miles. That feels doable in the next 15 days, even when recovering from surgery. It requires an average of less than a mile a day.

Day 10

Friday 10th May
Still a long way to go. Nearly 40 miles done, so average is just under 4 miles a day. It needed to be 5 to hit 70 before I go for surgery.
I guess here is hoping for a few active days over the weekend and that my recovery involves prescribed slow walking.

Day 6 done

Monday 6th May
Three days off work = three longish dog walks and an afternoon on my feet painting external walls. Thankfully the weather held up!

I’ve got a date for my surgery, and it’s soon. So I need to try and get the challenge completed by 14th if possible as I fly to Kaunas on 15th, and have surgery on 17th. So I doubt there will be any long walks in the second half of the month.

Day 2

Thursday 2nd May
No epic dog walk today. Considered one before work, just as it started raining. I was awake because I slept terribly last night. So today’s exercise consisted of walking around Lidl. Not very exciting, and not very far. Tomorrow I will do more.

Day 1

Wednesday 1st May
Took the small dog for an afternoon walk. She found a pond to splash in.

Well, I guess we’re doing it…

Tuesday 30th Apr
I need to get more active, but I’m also nervous because I’m waiting on gallbladder surgery and have spent the last 6 out of 7 weeks off work in pain, so I don’t know if this was a mistake.
I guess we’ll find out!
